ALL ABOUT ME (worksheet)

We have one month left for the summer vacations and it's high time to plan on the summer homework. I wonder if all the school give summer homework...
Last year we had a Holidays Book for them to work during the vacations but the parents kept calling and complaining on it being kind of hard for the level of our students so we were asked to prepare materials ourselves.
The first page will include an All About Me worksheet.

PHONICS - LONG A (ay,ai,a_e)

During the introduction of phonics I always ask my students to come up with any words that they think might contain the phonic being studied and as a result of this brainstorming  we come up to a big list of words and they feel very excited up to the moment when I tell them it's time to copy the list of words in their notebooks:)
However, eventually I concentrate on the most important and frequently used words and include them in my worksheets and handouts.
In the worksheet below I came up to 6 words with each set of phonics representing Long A but still left some more space for some more words.
It includes a simple matching exercise, matching the pictures with their correct names.

Under the Sea (crossword)

Summer is around the corner and I am preparing my Sea themed bulletin board displaying the sea creatures.I thought it might be a good idea to introduce all the sea creatures that are to be included in the bulletin board so I made an easy crossword worksheet.

COLORS (poem)

Teaching colors is one of my favourite themes to teach.
Colors are everywhere around us,you can even teach them without extra flashcards and materials.I came across an easy poem for young learners that perfectly goes with this theme so I made it into a worksheet.

MONTHLY AWARDS (part 3)

The third part of my MONTHLY AWARDS including the months April,May and June has long been ready but it somehow slipped my mind to post them.Besides,I am still on Spring Break so I will not start using my April award until Monday.
Just a reminder how I use them.
Every day my students can earn an award for performing good discipline, participation, class work, reading or handwriting. They take the award home, show to their parents, color and give me back.At the end of each month we count the awards and the student who has gained most awards is chosen the Star of the Month.

My Spring Resolutions (linky + printable)

Spring Break officially started for me yesterday with cleaning and decorating the living room.

If you are a regular reader of my blog you might know that I set seasonal resolutions and turn them into a printable. So this time my resolutions are not only because spring has sprung but also because I'm enjoying my Spring break so no reason to procrastinate:)

Brigid at Brigid's Daily Lesson Log is hosting a "Spring Break Bucket List Linky" so I decided to join the fun going on there and share my Spring Resolutions with my Blogger Colleagues.

So here's the list of my Spring Resolutions that I tried to make more achievable this time:)

You can have the template for free as a JPG file in case you are interested in filling in your own list. The flower graphics used in the printable are from http://www.dees-deelights.com.

PHONICS - Long A (ay,ai,a-e)

This was the first time my students were introduced to vowel phonics and I had  some doubts if they would grasp it easily but luckily they didn't have any difficulty.
In the book there were only 2 words with each pattern but I added some more already familiar words to the list.

I found a Pinterest Board full of Long A resources. You can check it out here.
